My Account About my bill Renovation Charges

If you are painting, decorating or carrying out structural work to your property, the water and sewerage charges are due in full unless you request the supply to be turned off. This is explained in our Scheme of Charges.

We have listed the ways we charge below. Take a look and decide the best option for you:

Option 1 - If your property has a water meter...

  • You'll pay a fixed service charge plus what you use. Find out more on our measured charges page.
  • If no water is used, you will only pay for the fixed service charge.

If your property does not have a meter, there are four options:

Option 2 - If you do not need a water supply...

  • You can request the supply to be turned off (temporary disconnection).
  • You may be liable for the surface water drainage charge of £121 (from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018). This is apportioned daily, if the supply is turned off for less than a year.
  • There's a charge when the supply is turned back on.
  • Interested? Fill in our online temporary disconnection form.

Option 3 - Unmeasured charges

Option 4 - Option meter

  • Use our calculator to estimate your usage and charges then apply for a meter online
  • A meter is installed within 3 months of receiving your completed online application form (where practical to do so).
  • Unmeasured charges are payable up to the date the meter is installed.
  • Once metered, charges are based on a fixed service charge plus what you use.
  • You can switch back to unmeasured charges within 12 months of the meter being installed.

Option 5 - Renovation meter

  • It may take up to 30 days to install a renovation meter.
  • You may only apply for a renovation meter if you have not opened a water account for the property.
  • No charges are payable until the meter is installed.
  • Once metered, charges are based on a fixed service charge plus what you use.
  • A renovation meter is permanent; you cannot change to unmeasured charges.
  • A renovation meter needs to be installed before your decoration/renovation work starts.
  • If a renovation meter is for you (as opposed to an option meter), fill in our online renovation meter form.
