WaterSource Pesticide and Herbicide Disposal Scheme

Pesticide and Herbicide Disposal Scheme

Registration Window Open until 31st May

As part of our PestSmart campaign, we are offering a free and confidential disposal scheme for farmers, growers, foresters and land managers to safely dispose of any unwanted, out of date or now unlicensed pesticides and herbicides which are difficult or expensive to dispose of.

By providing this disposal scheme in targeted catchment areas, we aim to work with land managers to safeguard raw water quality before it reaches our water treatment works by minimising the risk of unintended losses into water or wider environment.

What will be accepted?

We will accept:
tick  Pesticide Sprays
tick  Herbicide/Weed Killer
tick  Slug Pellets
tick  Sheep Dip

We will not accept:
cross  Oil
cross  Veterinary Medications
cross  Waste Oil
cross  Farm Yard Effluent

Who is eligible?

The disposal scheme is available to farmers, growers, foresters and land managers in the following catchments:

water droplet  Cefni Reservoir (North 1)
water droplet  Alaw Reservoir (North 2)
water droplet  Upper River Wye (South East 1)
water droplet  Pendine Groundwater (South West 3)
water droplet  Rivers Teifi (South West 1)
water droplet  River Towy (South West 2)

When will the scheme open?

Our registration window opens 3rd April to 31 May 2017

It is available for a limited time on a first come first served basis so make sure you register early to avoid disappointment.

What do I need to do?

If you live in one of the trial catchments, you will need to complete the online registration form or call us on 01286 832964 by no later than 4pm on 31st May.

Once we have your details, we will pass them onto our waste contractor who will contact you for further details before collecting your unwanted pesticides and herbicides on a pre-arranged date.

Chemicals MUST stay in their original containers so we know what they are and not moved from the original store or between farms. Don’t worry if this means you have lots of containers with only small amounts.

There is a maximum limit of 30 litres per collection. We will take more but you will be charged £2.35 per litre.

Terms and Conditions apply.

Will I be in trouble for storing out of date or unlicensed products?

This is a completely confidential service – neither Welsh Water nor Natural Resources Wales will know what has been collected from your farm or land.

More information on this is available in our T&Cs.
