Our services continue to be impacted by power supply issues which could result in interruptions to water supplies or low pressure for some customers, mainly in rural areas. Our teams are working hard to maintain supplies and working closely with all other agencies - including the energy companies - to restore all supplies safely and as quickly as possible.

Launching our new water efficiency self-assessment guide for small businesses

16 July 2021

With many businesses closed for long periods during the pandemic, it’s a great time to kickstart new habits to save money while reducing your impact on the environment.

If you run a small business, it’s easy to take water for granted when your focus is on doing what you do best – keeping your business running. However, did you know the average business in the UK uses 30% more water than necessary?

We’ve developed a self-assessment guide specifically for small business owners and employees to use to cut the amount of water you use. It’s a practical guide that will take you through our CUT method:

  • Check – This step involves identifying any leaks and getting to know your baseline water usage. Did you know 90% of leaks aren’t visible?
  • Understand – This involves analysing your water usage a little deeper.
  • Take action – This final step consists of developing an action plan to really lower your water usage and keep your water bills down.

Using less water will save you money, lower your carbon footprint, and if you use less water within a manufacturing process that heats water, also reduce your energy bills.

You can find the self-assessment guide available here to download.
