Are you a plumber? We need you!
At Welsh Water, we encourage the use of qualified and experienced professionals when carrying out any plumbing work. That’s why we promote the use of WaterSafe members to all our customers.
WaterSafe is the national register for approved plumbers, operated on behalf of the UK’s Approved Contractors Schemes and recognised by the Water Industry.
Here’s a brief video with more information about what WaterSafe means to us and our customers.
Why WaterSafe?
It’s completely free to join for eligible plumbers and once you have the stamp of approval, you will benefit from:
- Free promotion in your local area from Welsh Water
- Customer reassurance that you’re qualified and trusted by us to do the job
- Access to free guidance and advice to members working in the areas we supply.
- The right to use the WaterSafe brand in accordance with their guidelines.
Provided you have the relevant skills and qualifications, here at Welsh Water we’re also offering a one-day training course to obtain a qualification in Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, completely free of charge.
The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 are national requirements for the design, installation and maintenance of plumbing systems, water fittings and water-using appliances.
As a member, you will be able to certify that your work complies with The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. You’ll also be exempt from notifying some types of plumbing work where it would otherwise be a legal requirement.
So, if you hold a plumbing qualification and are insured but missing this specific qualification, we can offer you this one-day training package completely free of charge!
What’s more, at Welsh Water, we can help with getting you signed up as WaterSafe approved plumber. We’ll guide you through the paperwork as part of the training and arrange an on-site induction that works for you. It’s never been easier for you to join WaterSafe, so don’t miss out.
If you’re not sure whether you would be eligible for membership, you can contact us or head to WaterSafe directly to find out. The list of recognised qualifications and joining instructions are on the website here.

Using a WaterSafe approved plumber gives our customers an assurance that work will be carried out by a contractor with the right qualifications, insurances, and an understanding of the Regulations. You can search for your local WaterSafe approved plumber at the bottom of this page.
