Setup a Direct Debit or amend your bank details
By paying by direct debit you have the option of spreading your bill over instalments and making payments that are more flexible for you and at no extra cost.
What are the benefits of setting up a Direct Debit payment plan?
- You can spread your bill over instalments (at no extra cost)
- A payment plan may make it easier for you to budget your finances
- You have the flexibility to chose how often you pay
When we calculate your instalment amount, we will make sure your payments cover your current charges plus any arrears (if applicable). We will let you know how much this will be once we have set up your plan. If you find the payments are not affordable, please let us know and we will discuss alternative payment options with you.
If you want to amend the amount of your direct debit, please contact us.
How we calculate your bill
If your property has a water meter, you'll get a measured bill for the water you have used over the billing period. Your bill will be made up of two parts - Household measured charges, and a service charge.
For a detailed breakdown on how we calculate your bill click here.
If you don't have a water meter, you will be charged a fixed cost each year based on your property. Your bill is calculated using a rating system called Rateable Value (RV). Before 1990, all properties were given a specific RV by your local council.
RVs were set up for each property individually. There will be times where you’ll find you’re paying more, or less, than your neighbours even though your properties are very similar. Some properties may have a water meter or your neighbour may be on a tariff which means their bill will be different.
RVs stopped in 1990 (because of the introduction of Council Tax), which meant they were no longer re-assessed or given to any new properties that were built after 1990. Unfortunately, neither we, or your local council, will have any details about how your property was assessed.
