Burst water main at our Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works

We are currently dealing with a burst water main at our Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works, Dolgarrog, which is impacting water supplies to customers in parts of the Conwy Valley.

These locations are as follows: Conwy, Dolgarrog, Eglwys Bach, Henryd, Groesffordd, Llanbedr y Cennin, Parts of Llanrwst, Pentrefelin, Rowen, Tal y Bont, Tal y Cafn and Tyn Groes.

Our crews are on site and working on the repair.

We are rerouting water through our network and tankers are being mobilised to keep as many people on supply as possible.

We apologise to anyone whose water supply is interrupted and would like to reassure them we are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Customers have been contacted directly with text messages to inform them about the issues.

Water Regulations UK Limited (Water Regs UK)


Water Regs UK supports water companies in their role to supply safe, resilient water supplies in the UK.

By promoting the Water Fittings Regulations, they protect public health by helping to keep water safe in premises, so it is always safe to drink and never wasted.

Water Regs UK work closely with 26 water companies across the UK. The work supports their targets to safeguard drinking water quality, reduce leakage, encourage water efficiency, support developers with new connections and deliver excellent customer service.

What does Water Regs UK do?

They are funded by water companies to:

  • Promote the water regulations by providing information about the regulations, running an advice line and delivering training.
  • Approve plumbers and contractors. They administer WIAPS – the Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme, on behalf of 14 water supply companies, including Welsh Water. Members of WIAPS are also on the UK-wide plumber register WaterSafe, which is supported by all UK water companies and is administered by Water Regs UK.
  • Support the water industry. They facilitate water company collaboration to share industry learning, experience and risks and develop good practice between companies. They provide a focal point for communications with external stakeholders on the water fittings regulations.
