Your bill 2025Frequently asked questions about your bill
Most of our household customers will see an increase of 32% from April.
The “Average Household Bill” for 2025-26 will increase from £503 to £639 although this figure includes social tariffs which are heavily discounted and therefore different to the typical increase most customers will see.
A typical metered customer would see their annual bill increase from £437 to £575, whilst a typical unmetered customer would see their annual bill increase from £693 to £913.
Water only customers will see increases of 46% and wastewater only customers will see increases of 24%, as well as increases in bills from their water or wastewater supplier.
The first increase of the AMP is larger than we will see in the years that follow - around 3% each year.
Firstly, we do not have the power to charge whatever we want for our services. Price limits are set by Ofwat – the independent industry regulator.
Every five years we agree with Ofwat the level of investment we are going to undertake to deliver agreed improvements during a set investment period.
We are now at the start of a new investment period or AMP, which will see us invest more than £4bn in our services including £2.5bn on projects to improve the environment.
This much needed investment will allow us to reduce pollution, upgrade and build new vital assets, reduce leakage, improve water quality and improve our performance as a company.
Any price increases are never welcomed - we have always sought to keep these to a minimum - however, bill increases have not kept up with inflation over the past 15 years.
There are a number of factors that could be the reason for this. The one neighbour for example may be metered or the properties may have a different rateable value if neither are metered. Any assumptions on the reason for the difference would be speculation and it would not be inappropriate for us to share any information about an individual’s accounts.
